Algonquin Regional High School
Algonquin Regional High School is a public school that serves grades 9-12 in the Northboro - Southboro School District with 1,500 students enrolled. In 2003, the school district approved a $60 million renovation and expansion plan to upgrade the 310,000 square foot facility and infrastructure systems as well as add 150,000 square feet in new construction. The project was completed in September 2008 with a grand opening. Algonquin Regional High School has always been considered to be one of the better public high schools in Massachusetts and the completion of the infrastructure improvements to the regional high school has added to its stature.
The School Building Committee hired Construction Technology Management (CTM) and MOCA Systems as the Owner’s Representative throughout the project lifecycle. MOCA provided a range of services throughout pre-construction, contracting, construction and claims analysis to optimize the phasing to reduce costs and meet the requirements for full school operations during the academic year. MOCA monitored construction progress, assessed recovery options, and analyzed a delay claim that ultimately led to the School Building committee’s firing of the general contractor.
“The independent MOCA estimates, schedules and progress updates allowed us to provide the owner with the data he needed to force timely performance, while at the same time doing nothing that could be construed as interfering with the contractor’s right to control the means and methods.”
President, Owner’s Representative CTM
