Ala Moana Retail Center Expansion
Ala Moana Center ranks as one of the most visited and profitable shopping centers in the world. Just 1.25 miles from the heart of Waikiki and one block from the Hawaii Convention Center, the center has completed a $100 million dollar retail expansion through General Growth Properties. The expansion project included Hawaii’s first full-line Nordstrom department store and 30 additional retailers as part of a new wing to the mall.
The center now features 290-plus stores including 70 restaurants, four major department stores, the state’s largest collection of luxury retailers, a myriad of American and International name brand shops and local boutiques. The 18-story Kapiolani Residential Tower has been designed and awaits potential construction on top of the new 5-story garage.
General Growth Properties hired MOCA Systems to provide professional services throughout the retail expansion project including RFP development, design development, and construction oversight support. As part of our support, MOCA saved General Growth millions of dollars during bid negotiations through a construction simulation of the expansion project and a local market economic analysis.
“The services provided by MOCA Systems have allowed General Growth Properties to better plan, forecast, and execute our capital expenditures,,. MOCA Systems has helped GGP save 10-15% in portions of our project cost. In addition, this technology and the professionals at MOCA have been able to save us millions through the use of MOCABuild. GGP looks forward to working with MOCA Systems on future projects in Hawaii.”
