Sustainable Planning & Design
Our clients have embraced sustainable designs in facility and infrastructure systems. MOCA Systems provides a powerful approach to Sustainable Planning & Design that inspires innovative problem-solving to shape the built environment while maintaining and enhancing the natural environment.
We offer proven planning and design expertise integrated with LEED certification requirements and advanced technology to enable you to accomplish planning and design goals while greatly reducing energy and operational costs.
Because we approach our clients’ programs from a lifecycle perspective, they receive the technical expertise, team integration, and focus required to develop sustainable designs based on synergistic elements that deliver savings. MOCA has integrated our planning and design expertise with LEED certification requirements and advanced technology to enable our clients to accomplish both short-term construction goals and gain long-term operational cost savings including greater energy and operational efficiency.
Our Services
Integrated Master Planning
The Integrated Master Plan is a key requirement to ensure consistent success of capital programs and real property management while guiding future development. At MOCA, we develop integrated master planning documents used by our clients during the planning, design and construction processes to meet the short and long term needs of their organization. Our professionals understand the needs for flexibility and sustainability in facilities and infrastructure systems and help implement and adjust integrated master plans based on these objectives.
Integrated Master Scheduling
The Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) is a fundamental element of planning, managing and executing a successful program – representing major program events and activities, and the detailed tasks required to complete them. At MOCA, we provide our clients with proven IMS capabilities to make the most of their limited budgets and stay in control of their complex programs. Our scheduling experts use technology such as Primavera and MOCABuild to create and maintain detailed and verifiable schedules that our clients rely on to achieve success on their most demanding programs.
Design Management Optimization
Management of the design stage, from project inception through construction documents, requires experienced coordination within key disciplines. We offer the technical professionals across structural, architectural and MEP disciplines to manage all aspects of the design development. Our proven expertise in BIM and construction simulation technology ensures the design teams are effectively utilizing the technology to achieve the intended value. From assessing alternatives to value engineering to LEED certification, our team ensures that the facility or infrastructure system is delivered in the most cost effective manner according to all project requirements.
Sustainability & LEED™ Certification
The key to successful sustainable design and LEED certification is, first and foremost, the integrated design relationship between all parties involved. Our clients are committed to sustainable development of their facilities and infrastructure projects, and have mandated certification or equivalent by the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED&trade)” Green Building Rating System. At MOCA, we have a proven sustainability expertise with accredited LEED professionals to help our clients around the world achieve their sustainability goals and LEED certification – on both individual projects and standardized prototypes for multi-project programs.
Construction Simulation
Virtual construction simulation supports the capital program decision process throughout all phases of the lifecycle with verifiable design and construction information. Owners gain clarity on detailed project cost and schedule requirements, real-time status, forecasted risks, and expected end dates to enable project team members to make intelligent decisions and greatly improved project performance. MOCA offers a proven technical competence in construction simulation using our proprietary MOCABuild™ software system. The MOCA team actually develops a virtual computer simulation of facility and infrastructure projects based on identified material and labor content to create verifiable resource-loaded schedules that incorporate the work location and defined means and methods.
Building Information Modeling (BIM)
By mandating the adoption of BIM 3D standards and capabilities, our clients are improving the quality of their designs and the effectiveness of the communication between their project team members to save time and money. At MOCA, we help our clients get the most from Autodesk's Revit and Architectural Desktop and Bentley Architecture technologies as Project Model Managers through the use of our proprietary MOCABuild construction simulation technology. MOCABuild augments BIM 3D with BIM 4D (time) and 5D (cost) dimensions to offer improved project predictability, early identification of constructability problems, and better synchronization of the design, cost and schedule.
Building Commissioning
Building commissioning services have become substantially more important to successful building delivery and cost effective operations. With the adoption of the LEED program, our clients now require fundamental and enhanced commissioning services – generating quick payback on the cost of the commissioning agent. At MOCA, we provide comprehensive building commissioning and diagnostic testing services to address building performance, operation, and maintenance issues from schematic design through ongoing operations. Our professionals are experts in ASHRAE standards, LEED certification, and the use of advanced technology to effectively plan and execute commissioning and diagnostic testing to meet the needs of the building owners and their occupants.
Risk Assessments and Analyses
Risk management is a critical aspect of cost engineering for our government agencies and commercial organizations. Our team has the specialized expertise to manage risk throughout the program including its identification, analysis and mitigation. We are knowledgeable and experienced with the compliance requirements of the formal cost risk analyses of EC Bulletin No. 2007-17 and utilize a structured cost and schedule risk analysis methodology and commercial software programs that include all critical risk elements. We help our clients to effectively focus decisions based on the internal and external risks, allowing them to better manage programs and achieve cost and schedule savings.
